How to join two legs together in crochet? Amigurumi guide.
When you are crocheting a plushie, you will often need to attach the two legs together before you can start crocheting the body. We are going to see together how to proceed and you will see that it is not very complicated!
I will explain to you either in writing or via my YouTube video tutorial how to do it to get a perfect result!
Step 1: Prepare your pieces
- The first leg: Once finished, cut the yarn leaving a few centimeters and secure it with a knot (the leg has 6 stitches).
- The second leg: Do not cut the yarn! This is the leg we will be using to join them together. (the leg has 6 stitches)

Step 2: Go around the first leg
Take the first leg (the one with the cut yarn). The first stitch of the round is located to the left of the knot.

- Take the second leg (the one with the yarn still attached to the ball) in your right hand.
- Pass the hook under both loops of the stitch we just identified above and crochet your first X-stitch single crochet.

3. Crochet 5 more stitches by going all the way around the leg. You will reach the crotch area.
4. You can see 2 loops at the crotch. Work a slip stitch by passing under these 2 loops. This slip stitch does not count as a stitch. The round consists of 12 stitches (6+6).

Step 3: Go around the second leg
Work 6 single crochets again, but this time along the second leg to finish the round.
Step 4: Beginning of the next round
Here, we are going to skip the slip stitch (pink marker) and start crocheting in the next stitch (orange needle). If you do not skip the slip stitch, you will have 13 stitches at the end of the round instead of 12.

I invite you to watch my YouTube video on how to attach your amigurumi legs together with crochet.
Why use a slip stitch for this assembly?
The slip stitch is the flattest stitch. In the case of the legs:
- It remains invisible once you have worked the following rounds of the body.
- It helps avoid a hole at the crotch through which the stuffing could leak out.
